Maximalism is having a moment

Maximalism is having a moment

Maximalism is having a moment, and nowhere does it show up better than in the details. A side table isn’t just a surface, it’s a statement piece. Whether you’re going full-on baroque or just testing the waters with a bit of bold colour, a maximalist side table can anchor a whole room and say something about you that a minimalist piece never could.

What actually makes a side table ā€œmaximalistā€?

It comes down to a few things: bold colour (think jewel tones, neons, rich pastels), pattern and texture (glitter finishes, painted motifs, decorative hardware), a silhouette with some personality, and little personal touches like custom colours or hand-painted designs. This is exactly what our Side Table CustomiserĀ  is built for. You choose the colours, the patterns, the finishes, and we make it real.

1. Start with a hero colour

Pick one dominant colour and carry it through the room, in cushions, vases, wall art, wherever it fits. Warm tones like terracotta, mustard and coral bring energy into a space. Cool tones like cobalt, teal and lilac feel a bit more dramatic.

2. Layer your accessories

Here’s a formula that works: something tall (a lamp, a vase, a stack of books), something textured (a ceramic pot, a woven coaster), and something personal (a framed photo, a candle you love). Stick to odd numbers where you can. 3 or 5 items just look more interesting than an even set.

3. Don’t be afraid of pattern on pattern

The trick is to vary the scale. Pair a large floral with a small geometric and let them sit together. As long as the colours share a common thread it’ll feel intentional rather than chaotic. Our bespoke tables can take painted patterns and glitter finishes too, so this doesn’t have to stop at your accessories.

4. Think about the room it’s going in

In a bedroom, let the table do the talking on its own. In a living room, use it to show off the objects you love. In a hallway, one statement table plus a mirror makes a proper first impression.

5. Go bespoke and make it properly yours

The best maximalist interiors always feel personal, and that’s the whole point of building your own. Side Table Customiser gives you full control over colour, pattern and finish, so what you end up with is something nobody else has.
